A Historical Study on Cho Heon-yeong¡¯s ¡ºOriental Medicine Series(ÔÔåÇì¢ùÊõ¿ßö)¡»

Abstract
This study is about Cho Heon-yeong¡¯s ¡ºOriental Medicine Series(ÔÔåÇì¢ùÊõ¿ßö)¡». It consists of 5 clinical books, ¡ºTherapy for People(ÚÅñëì¢âúìµÖûÛö)¡», ¡ºTuberculosis Oriental Medical Treatment(øËÜ»ùÓÛ°ö½ÖûÛö)¡», ¡ºNeurasthenia Treatment(ãêÌèáñå°ñøö½ÖûÛö)¡», ¡ºGastrointestinal Disease Treatment(êÖíóÜ»ö½ÖûÛö)¡» and ¡ºGynecological Treatment(ÜþìÑÜ»ö½ÖûÛö)¡». whch were published between 1935-1941. This series mainly succeeded ¡ºDonguibogam(ÔÔì¢ÜÄÊü)¡», and was influenced by ¡ºKyeongakjeonseo (ÌØä¿îïßö)¡», and ¡ºHwangjenegyeong(üÜð¨Ò®Ìè)¡». Cho Heon-yeong¡¯s two medical ideology were represented in this series. First, he emphasized invigoration in treatment for the people who lacked nutrition and medical care at the time. Second, eclecticism of Korean Medicine and Western medicine is specifically revealed through this series. He aimed for comprehensive medicine, that consists mainly of Korean medicine and includes only a part of Western medicine.
